We chose to raise Indian Runner ducks because they are the most active forager of all duck breeds. They cover a large area in search of snails, slugs, grasshoppers, insects and other edibles. We love the look of the Indian Runners and also that they are prolific layers and can lay in excess of 250 eggs per year.  Duck eggs are higher in protein and have a higher concentration of omega-3 fatty acids. Duck eggs have a large, golden, creamy yolk and the whites will give you fluffier cakes, taller meringue peaks, and lighter cookies. Yum!

We love these comical farm companions and the help they provide with keeping our unwanted insect visitors at bay in our small orchard and garden. Our runner ducks are quite talkative in the morning and greet us with their chatter. They will often tilt their heads with a questioning look that can’t help but make us smile! Our ducks are fed a high quality duck pellet and are out on pasture with water everyday weather permitting.
